The Los Angeles Rams strengthened their defense by signing Bobby Wagner, making life that much easier for players like Cooper Kupp.

The Rams were the big winners in the Bobby Wagner sweepstakes, signing the former Seahawks linebacker to a five-year, $50 million deal.

Los Angeles is getting a Pro Bowl linebacker who can help them defend their Super Bowl championship. At the same time, they’ve benefitted from the Seahawks’ loss while keeping Wagner from going to any of their NFC rivals.

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp was excited about the signing for his own hilarious reasons.

“Let’s go!! Don’t have to play against @Bwagz anymore!!!!” Kupp tweeted.

The Rams have had to face off with Wagner twice a year since he joined the league in 2012. Kupp has faced off with the Seahawks defense led by Wagner since he came into the league in 2017. Having him on their side for a change is a pretty big deal.

Wagner is an eight-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro. The only question regarding his future is how much longer he’ll be capable of playing at that level. He will turn 32 years old in June.

Unless something drastic changes, Wagner does have a strong track record in terms of availability. He’s missed just two regular-season games since 2015.

The Seahawks released Wagner earlier this year because of salary considerations, not because his level had dropped. Now he gets to team up with Kupp and company to prove to Seattle they shouldn’t have let him go.
