The Green Bay Packers draft strategy for 2022 looks likely to include a wide receiver or two as they explore George Pickens as a Davante Adams replacement.

Davante Adams’ departure for the Raiders and Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s move to the Chiefs has left the Packers with a bare cupboard at the wide receiver position.

Even if they get aggressive on the trade market, t stands to reason Green Bay will need to target pass catchers in the upcoming NFL Draft, possibly even spending a first-round pick to get one for the first time since Javon Walker since 2002.

It would seem they’re leaving their options open though, inviting Georgia’s George Pickens for a pre-draft visit this week, per Bill Huber of SI.com.

Packers draft rumors: Possible Davante Adams replacement visits Green Bay

At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Pickens has named Adams as a player he tries to mold himself after.

“I’m bigger than Davante Adams. That’s kind of the lane I kind of want to go into because with the size I am, a guy who can move is almost unguardable,” the receiver said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Green Bay has invited multiple receivers for meetings, including Treylon Burks from Arkansas, Tyquan Thornton from Baylor and Velus Jones from Tennessee, according to Pro Football Talk.

Adding Pickens to the mix shows the wide array of draft profiles the team is apparently considering.

Burks projects as a first-rounder. Pickens could sneak into the first or fall to the third. Thornton and Jones look like Day 3 prospects.

Pickens could be a steal if Green Bay gets him as late as the third round. He’s coming back from the ACL injury that limited his participation in the 2021 football season and has put an injury red flag over his draft stock. He was able to return for the end of the season, including the Bulldogs’ run to the CFP title.
