The April 9 super welterweight bout between Erickson Lubin and Sebastian Fundora is hard to call, but oddsmakers and FanSided see the favorite.

There are several great boxing bouts on Saturday, April 9, but the super welterweight contest between Erickson Lubin and Sebastian Fundora might be the most competitive.

According to Wynnbet.com, Lubin is a slight betting favorite over Fundora at -150 odds. Fundora sits steady at +115, less than a 2-1 underdog.

Those numbers should narrow even more by fight night. Lubin vs. Fundora could be an even money bout.

Lubin (24-1, 17 KOs) lost to Jermell Charlo in a surprising round 1 knockout in 2017. It was his lone title shot, but Lubin won his next six matchups, netting four knockouts.

Lubin’s winning streak helped fans and pundits forget about his performance against Charlo. The 26-year-old from Florida dropped former unified super welterweight champion, Jeison Rosario, twice en route to a round 6 TKO in June 2021.

Erickson Lubin vs. Sebastian Fundora could be an even odds fight on April 9

Although Fundora (18-0-1, 12 KOs) is undefeated, many felt he looked flat against Sergio Garcia in December. Funodora won by unanimous decision, but it wasn’t his best performance.

Fundora is two years younger than Lubin, but age isn’t a factor in this matchup. Height and reach are always a consideration for a Fundora fight.

Fundora’s nickname is ‘The Towering Inferno’ due to being 6-foot-6 with an 80-inch reach. Both stats are outliers for a super welterweight.

Lubin gives up 8 inches to Fundora in height and 5 inches in reach. Fundora’s opponents typically have a hard time dealing with his height, but Garcia didn’t have a problem finding his chin.

Lubin has better opposition on his résumé than Garcia and is a southpaw like Fundora. He’s also an explosive puncher with a 68 percent KO rating.

On paper, Lubin vs. Fundora is an intriguing contest. Tune into Showtime at 10 p.m. ET to catch the action.
