Another Mets batter got plunked by Nationals and Buck Showalter’s reaction was perfect
By Ethan Lee
Yet another New York Mets batter got hit by a pitch against the Washington Nationals and Buck Showalter is absolutely fed up with the nonsense.
It shouldn’t be too much to ask for a batter to not be hit by a pitch. That’s not an unreasonable request for anyone to make. And yet, apparently, the Washington Nationals are completely and totally unable to get through a game against the New York Mets without somehow hitting a batter with a pitch.
It’s absurd and inexplicable and makes no sense, but here we are, with yet another Mets batter getting plunked by the Nationals.
Buck Showalter, the Mets’ manager who has become a living legend with the way he’s reacted to his batters seemingly routinely getting hit by pitches this season (and a former Mississippi State Bulldog), is getting plenty of attention once more because of how he’s reacting to yet another one of his batters getting hit by a pitch.
Check out the whole sequence here:

Look at that.
That’s the face of a man who is beside himself trying to figure out why this absurd and unnecessary situation keeps happening.
This is the face of a man who is tired of bad pitching decisions resulting in his guys getting hit with projectiles.
He looks like he’s fed up and done and beyond ready to fight someone. And he is absolutely well within his right to be furious about this whole situation. Five of his batters have been hit by pitches so far and the season just started! Who could blame him for being upset?
