SMU tight end Grant Calcaterra: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports /

SMU. Grant Calcaterra. 124. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 54. Tight End

The Eagles could use another tight end on the depth chart. They actually have a lot of tight ends total, but most won’t make the team. They have a great starter in Dallas Goedert, but after him is Jack Stoll, Tyree Jackson, and Richard Rodgers. Grant Calcaterra can make all of them expendable. There are worries with Calcaterra because he once medically retired because of concussions at Oklahoma, but he returned for SMU and played really well after a year off. He’s a pure pass catcher that could really help this offense right away. He gives the Eagles some more creativity for this offense.

Pick Analysis. 154. Scouting Report. Cornerback. LSU. CORDALE Flott. player. 54

Wait, we’re really taking a cornerback duo from a team that went 6-7 last season? Cordale Flott is a nickel corner who can lock down that position in due time. They have Darius Slay, so a player like Flott could grow into a role as he plays special teams. While LSU was bad, they had a great cornerback room. He keeps his receivers in front of him at all times, and that will work really well against gunners on the punt return. Flott can do a lot for the Eagles, which is good for a pick so late in the draft.

Linebacker. Appalachian State. D'Marco Jackson. 162. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 54

D’Marco Jackson is an all or nothing player. That has its perks, but he’s had his issues with it. He misses some plays because he runs past them, but his ability to get places quickly also helps him make plays that other players wouldn’t get to. He was a team captain for Appalachian State, showing his leadership ability. Jackson would be a great special teams player right off the bat, and with the right coaching, he could turn into something interesting on the defensive side. Jackson was a very late bloomer, becoming a starter for the first time in his senior year, and the Eagles can build on what they discovered from him last season.

Sterling Weatherford. 166. player. 54. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Safety. Miami (OH)

The Eagles are taking a lot of chances this draft on players away from the traditionally great programs after the first round, but this is the beauty of coming into the NFL Draft with 10 picks. Taking players from non-traditional schools allow the Eagles to look for a player who is a diamond in the rough. Sterling Weatherford is a very safe pick this late in the draft. He is good against the run but has some trouble in coverage. As someone taken this late in the draft, the Eagles know he’s a project. However, he will be available to help on special teams right away.

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Offensive Tackle. 194. North Dakota. Matt Waletzko. 54

Jeff Stoutland will have his work cut out for him as the offensive line coach, but this one has an insante amount of upside. Matt Waletzko is gigantic human at 6’7 and 312 lbs. That will work out well for his ability to stick around in the league, but he needs to prove he can play against increased competition. It’s one thing to get All-American honors in Division II, but it’s another thing to prove you can win blocks against the best of the best. Still, there is a good frame here to win a job one day.
