Why does Tiger Woods wear red on Masters Sunday? He does so at every major, as it turns out, because of his mother.

Tiger Woods doesn’t have to be at contention at The Masters to wear red on Sunday. It’s just something he does, especially at Augusta National.

Woods’ incredible comeback from a near-deadly car accident to walking the greens of Augusta National is enough reason to celebrate. Making the cut and finishing four rounds of golf at a major tournament? That’s just the cherry on top.

Knowing Woods, he’s not thrilled with his score heading into the Final Round at August. Seven over par isn’t what it used to be for Tiger, though, especially considering he’s still rounding back to his physical norm after the accident just over a year ago.

Woods wears read on Sundays — not just Masters Sunday — in every tournament he plays. The reason, he said, can be attributed to his mom, Tida.

“I wear red on Sundays because my mom thinks that is my power color,” said Woods. “And you know, you should always listen to your mom.”
