The Green Bay Packers can replace Davante Adams with either of their two first-round picks.

With Davante Adams now playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, the Green Bay Packers have no choice but to replace their former No. 1 wide receiver with either of their two first-round picks.

As part of their return package for Adams from the Silver and Black, the Packers have the No. 22 overall pick this spring. They also have their own first-round pick at No. 28. Even though the Packers’ brass rarely uses first-round picks on skill-position players, what other options do they have? The good news is they have the resources to go out and draft a strong No. 1 wide receiver.

There are three guys in the mix for the Packers in the latter part of the first round: Chris Olave out of Ohio State, Treylon Burks out of Arkansas and Jahan Dotson out of Penn State. So who is the wide receiver Green Bay probably ends up with?

Green Bay Packers: Who potentially replaces Davante Adams in the NFL Draft?

Alright. Here is the way to look at it. Olave is the best receiving prospect of this trio. He could be available for the Packers picking at No. 22, but he might be coming off the board closer to the top half of round one. Olave will not be there at No. 28. While Burks might be on the board at No. 28, Dotson definitely will be. So it really comes down to what wide receiver they covet the most here.

While all three can come in and contribute right away in the Packers’ offense, Olave has to be the guy. If the Packers have to combine picks No. 22 and No. 28 and move up ever so slightly to get Adams’ replacement, then they have to do it. Adams may have been a former second-round pick himself, but Olave has been a stud in the Big Ten for years. He has next to no bust potential either.

Though it is not like they can do wrong with any of the three, but the upside Olave possesses may be too good to pass up. Yes, he played in the same receiving corps at Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but there is no doubt about how well-coached he was playing for Ryan Day and Brian Hartline in Columbus. If the Packers end up with Olave in the first round, they will be happy.

Olave may be a bit out of reach, but the Packers have the resources to trade up for him if need be.
