2022 NFL Mock Draft: New No. 1 overall pick emerges for Jaguars
By Brad Weiss
19-22
The New Orleans Saints hold two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, and they should look to address the offense with both of them. Earlier in the first round, we had the Saints going wide receiver, adding Chris Olave from Ohio State, and here, they bolster the offensive line.
Keeping Jameis Winston healthy is going to be paramount for this franchise in 2022, and Trevor Penning can help them do just that. He proved himself to be a nasty mauler at the Senior Bowl, and Saints fans are going to love the way he plays the game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team in mourning, as they recently lost 24-year-old Dwayne Haskins to a terrible accident last week. Haskins was a beloved member of this franchise and was expected to help out in a big way in the quarterback room in his second season with the team.
Looking at their needs at No. 20 overall, quarterback is one of them, especially with the loss of Haskins, and the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. Kenny Pickett did incredible work for Pitt in college, and maybe he can help the pro franchise look to the future.
When it comes to the New England Patriots, you have to like what they are building back up since they lost Tom Brady a few years ago. However, it is time for them to go back to winning when it counts, and it will be interesting to see Mac Jones take the next step forward in 2022.
With pick No. 21 overall, the Patriots look to build more protection in front of Jones, adding Iowa star center Tyler Linderbaum. The interior of the Pats’ offensive line needs work, and in Linderbaum, they could have their center for the next 10-to-15 years.
What an offseason it has been for the Green Bay Packers, who have lost elite talent on both sides of the ball, as well as re-signed star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. With Davante Adams gone, the wide receiver room needs an injection of talent, and they get some here at pick No. 22 overall.
The selection for the Packers with their first of two first-round picks is Jahan Dotson, a star wideout from Penn State who has no issues producing in cold weather. Dotson is not going to be Adams, at least not right away, but this is a step in the right direction.
