All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, adding an elite DB to their secondary.

Even in a division without a truly elite signal-caller, Indianapolis knows the best way to stop a great quarterback, is an equally good secondary. They now have that after adding Gilmore on an affordable two-year contract.

The Colts already have a star-studded defense with the likes of Darius Leonard, DeForest Buckner, Kenny Moore, and Yannick Ngakoue. Adding Gilmore to that list — a true No. 1 cornerback in Gus Bradley’s Cover 3 scheme — will only make them better.

Gilmore is coming off a recovery season of sorts with the Carolina Panthers. He did record two interceptions, and maintained his status as one of the better cornerbacks in football. But with a defense as capable as the Colts, they’ll be expecting even more.

Stephon Gilmore age: Colts

Gilmore in 31 years old, which is one of the main attributes against him. Despite being one of the smarter defensive backs in football at this point in his career, he only has so much time left playing at an elite level, and he’s already suffered major injuries.

This is why the Colts signed Gilmore to a manageable two-year, $23 million contract, rather than reaching.

Even at 31, Gilmore had a few potential suitors, including the Chiefs.

Stephon Gilmore stats

Gilmore has made four straight Pro Bowls, including last year. His last All-Pro selection came in 2019 while with the Patriots.

The new Colts CB only started eight games last season coming off injury.
