UFC Vegas 51: Who is Martin Buday?
10 fights into his MMA career and heavyweight Martin Buday has managed to reach the mountaintop of the sport ahead of his UFC debut against Chris Barnett.
Buday earned a shot in the UFC after a first-round knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series last year over Lorenzo Hood. He has won eight in a row, with each of his eight wins coming by stoppage.
The 30-year-old Buday made his MMA debut in the Slovak Republic Regional in Oct. 2015 over Uros Stefanovic. He went on to lose to former The Ultimate Fighter champion Juan Espino in his next fight two years later.
But Buday would manage to get back on track with wins over the likes of Milan Vrbic and Daniel Dittrich in smaller promotions such as Oktagon 24. He would get the attention of UFC president Dana White following a wild knockout over Kamil Minda at Oktagon 25.

Buday trains with fellow UFC prospect Ludovit Klein at Spartakus Fight Gym.
Buday will face a tough test in his debut against the surging Barnett, who has won two of his last three fights and most recently knocked out Gian Villante at UFC 268. Barnett will bring a unique challenge on the feet against Buday.
If Buday can get past Barnett at UFC Vegas 51, he could be well on his way to moving up the heavyweight division. After a short tenure on smaller stages, he’s managed to make the move to the biggest spotlight in the sport.
