Braves fans are ecstatic Sean Newcomb was designated for assignment
The Atlanta Braves made multiple roster moves on Tuesday, none bigger than designating struggling hurler Sean Newcomb for assignment.
Things just haven’t been going according to plan for the Atlanta Braves and left-handed hurler Sean Newcomb. Newcomb has been downright awful in 2022 and the reigning World Series champs have had enough.
It was just announced that the Braves have designated Newcomb for assignment, bringing an end to this experiment. Newcomb once had plenty of promise with the club, but fans have been calling for him to be sent packing for a while now.
Sean Newcomb has struggled mightily with the Braves
Newcomb had made three appearances for Atlanta this year, not lasting more than 2.2 innings in any of them. On the year, he had recorded five innings of work, giving up four earned runs. That’s a 7.20 ERA for those of you keeping track at home. With this, it’s no wonder the Atlanta supporters are excited about the news that has just come in.

The start of the campaign hasn’t gone according to plan for Atlanta, as they’re 5-7 and in third place in the NL East standings. No one saw this coming, as the Braves had plenty of hype leading up to 2022. They stunned the baseball world by winning it all in 2021, and the addition of Matt Olson has fans believing in a repeat.
If that does happen, Newcomb won’t be a part of the team trying to go on a memorable run. Only time will tell if he gets claimed by a new squad or not.
