Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones threw shade at Taco Charlton, and the defensive lineman seemingly threw some right back at him.

The opening night of the NFL Draft is this Thursday, Apr. 28. Before that, some NFL general managers have held press conferences ahead of the big day.

On Tuesday, April 25, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talked about who makes the call when it comes to drafting a player. That is when he joked that the selection of Taco Charlton was his son, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones’, idea, while he was the one who chose to pick Micah Parsons last year.

Well, the quote from Jones spread across social media and found its way to Charlton, who responded with a GIF of actor Woody Harrelson wiping his tears with money.

With the 28th-overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Charlton, an edge rusher out of Michigan. The thing that has Cowboys fans asking “what if” is that reigning Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt was selected two picks later by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Charlton spent two seasons with Dallas, where he recorded 46 combined tackles (eight for loss), 11 quarterback hits and four sacks in 27 games.

During the start of the 2019 season, Charlton was waived by the Cowboys, where he was later picked up by the Miami Dolphins. He then went on to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021.

Charlton signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints for the 2022 season.

Jones’s comments went viral and Charlton heard them.
