The Philadelphia Eagles have the picks to move up into the top 10 to select Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux in the 2022 NFL Draft.

With two picks in the teens in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles have the necessary ammunition to move up into the top 10 to take someone like Oregon Ducks star pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.

James Palmer of The NFL Network reported on Thursday afternoon about what could be in store for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman on draft day. Roseman has a reputation for being a big-time trader throughout the draft process. This year, the Eagles have the No. 15 pick from the Miami Dolphins and the No. 18 pick from the New Orleans Saints. No. 15 is all about moving up.

Palmer mentioned that if players at key position groups (cornerback, wide receiver, pass rusher) fall, the Eagles would be very much into the mix to trade up into the top 10. While a cornerback like Sauce Gardner or Derek Stingley Jr. would be nice, as would a wide receiver to help support Jalen Hurts in his second year as the full-time starter, moving up is about going after Thibodeaux.

As for the No. 18 pick from the Saints, Roseman is hoping all the quarterbacks slotted to go into the first round are still on the board. This would allow the Eagles to trade back into the latter part of round one to recoup some more draft capital heading into day two and day three.

Is Thibodeaux worth trading up for, who are potential trade partners for the Eagles and who will they have to leapfrog in order to land him?

NFL Draft Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles could trade up for Kayvon Thibodeaux

At one point in time, Thibodeaux was seen as the top overall prospect in this draft. Though he still could potentially go No. 1 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Thibodeaux is infinitely more likely to go somewhere in the No. 2 to No. 10 range. Detroit is probably not a viable trade option for Philadelphia, but the Houston Texans at No. 3 and both New York Jets picks in the top 10 sure are.

Having the rival New York Giants picking at No. 5 and No. 7 certainly complicates things for The Birds. The Texans at No. 3 and the Jets at No. 4 and No. 10 are the best bets for a potential trade partner, with the Carolina Panthers at No. 6 to some extent, as well as the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8 and the Seattle Seahawks at No. 9. Of course, Atlanta and Seattle may also want Thibodeaux, too.

Overall, the Texans and the Jets present the best options for the Eagles to trade up. Though getting to No. 3 or No. 4 would be pricey, if Thibodeaux is still on the board at No. 10, this should be a no-brainer for Philadelphia to make. Otherwise, he could go to the division rival Washington Commanders at No. 11 or see the hated Dallas Cowboys trade all the way up from No. 24 as well.

Ultimately, what the Texans decide to do at No. 3 will truly shape the rest of the 2022 NFL Draft.
