It’s no wonder fans in New Orleans are jazzed over Mathieu. He’s from New Orleans himself and starred at LSU, where he set the college football world on fire.
He’s also been one of the most impactful defenders in the NFL over the last few years, going to three Pro Bowls and winning a Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
Kansas City’s recent success has been powered by stars like Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but on the defensive side of the ball Mathieu has been the unquestioned leader. He won’t just bring his skills to the secondary, he’s also bringing his leadership and instincts.
