3 bold predictions for Dallas Cowboys offseason after NFL Draft
By John Buhler
1. Another NFL team will have used Jerry Jones’ draft board to their advantage
Are you ready for another scandal? It is always something with the NFL, so if it can give us Spygate, Bountygate and Deflategate, then it can absolutely yield us … Draftboardgate. Yes, news will break on a random Wednesday or Friday this fall when word gets out that some nefarious football organization used elite reconnaissance to steal information off Jerry Jones’ draft board.
I mean, he put it out there for all the world to see to try to prove a point about Tulsa’s Tyler Smith. The instant that video went viral, some wunderkind behind a keyboard on a team’s payroll will have zoomed in on the print-out, gathered intel and then relayed that critical information back to the war room. Dallas did not even see it coming. Sanctions will come and a draft pick will be lost.
In reality, it is not going to amount to much more than the Cowboys looking incredibly stupid for everyone to laugh at. Then again, we do live in this timeline where getting through a single day is just a pure struggle at this point. Ultimately, this will be a story that never goes away, because fate would have it, the one player discovered off Jones’ draft board will one day become a hall of famer.
Win or lose on the field, no team does a better job of winning the press conference than Dallas.
