ESPN host predicts Urban Meyer lands head coaching job at major blue blood program

Paul Finebaum straight up asked Keyshawn Johnson live over the radio where Urban Meyer will end up coaching at next and he believes Meyer will be the one to bring Texas football back.

Give it a year or so’s time, but Keyshawn Johnson believes Urban Meyer will be the one to bring the Texas football program back.

Not since losing the 2009 national championship game to Alabama has Texas been back. Colt McCoy may still be playing some backup quarterback in the NFL, but it’s been a long, long time, no doubt. After not even lasting a full year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Paul Finebaum challenged his ESPN colleague over the radio and Johnson did not let us down. Meyer is about to Hook ‘Em.

Johnson has absolutely no faith that head coach Steve Sarkisian will be the one to bring Texas back.

While the absolutely perfect spot in the Power Five for Meyer to take over is in Lincoln, Nebraska, Johnson’s on-the-spot reasoning as to why Meyer would work in Texas is not bad. Johnson is certain Texas will turn on Sarkisian like his alma mater USC did about a decade ago. Meyer can recruit big time and he is not afraid to get his hands dirty in the increasingly slimy world of NIL.

Johnson may be painting Meyer as a bit of a sleazeball, but desperate times call for desperate measures when it comes to messing with Texas. The Longhorns are about to join the SEC in a few years. While they might have the lack of awareness to think they run the show as they did in the Big 12, you cannot be a sub-.500 team in the Big 12 and have a snowball’s chance over in the SEC.

Recruitment is the lifeblood of college football, and few were better at it for longer than Meyer. Outside of down in Duval County, Meyer won everywhere he had been. His collegiate record speaks for itself. Though most schools will not touch him with a 10-foot pole, Texas getting dog-walked in a 16-team SEC could change their stance on the whole Meyer toxicity issue.

This all really comes down to if Sarkisian makes it work in Austin over the next two seasons or so.
