3. New York Knicks

This is one you are going to hear over and over again. The New York Knicks have a ton of assets that could influence the Utah Jazz, but most fans won’t want to give them up. R.J. Barrett is the top asset in any deal, but he’s grown into a player who could be a star. If the Knicks won’t give up Barrett (which would make this deal incredibly difficult to finish), then the 10th-overall pick is a must.

The Knicks are looking to make a move that makes fans forget what was a dreadful season. After making the playoffs for the first time eight years only to get destroyed by the Hawks in the first round, a big offseason led to disappointing results and they missed the playoffs again. Tom Thibodeau is still the head coach for now. This organization wants so desperately to be a playoff contender. They don’t even want to win it all (at least that’s not the goal yet), but they just want to make it to the second round.

Mitchell helps them get there. There are other pieces the Jazz could really like. Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin have immense upside, but they have zero consistency. Deuce McBride is a player that could push a trade over the top after he had a really good year in G League. They also traded a first-round pick for Cam Reddish, but it didn’t really work. That can be a player that’s added for value’s sake.

The Knicks are the logical team to be in rumors because they are in New York. It just always happens this way, however, they at least have some assets that could make the deal work.
