It seems unlikely that New York Mets fans will be all that happy with the way Buck Showalter responded to Francisco Lindor’s current slump.

Francisco Lindor hasn’t been all that productive for the New York Mets, but that isn’t necessarily a huge cause for concern. Well, at least that appears to be the line of thought that Mets’ manager Buck Showalter seems to have.

When discussing Lindor’s recent struggles, Showalter said that Lindor will “figure it out.” That’s a pretty straightforward promise on the matter. However, that probably won’t be enough when considering Lindor’s inconsistencies and his paycheck.

While some will likely see these quotes and simply be satisfied with Showalter’s statement, there are a number of fans who won’t see it the same way.

All Mets fans want results out of the highly-paid star and Showalter simply stating that everything will eventually be okay with Lindor probably won’t do enough to get address everyone’s concerns on the matter.

New York Mets fans aren’t thrilled as Francisco Lindor tries to get out of a recent slump

Given how much Lindor is being paid, it’s reasonable to expect that he would at least be a bit more consistent while at the plate.

No reasonable Mets fan is expecting that Lindor will be perfect, but they probably would appreciate a few more hits every now and then. And in all honesty, that’s not unreasonable.

Lindor is currently in his second year of a decade-long, $341 million contract. This season, Lindor has a .228 batting average. Last season, Lindor had a .230 batting average. Sure, he’s a pretty solid home run hitter, but that batting average isn’t great!

Maybe Showalter is right and Lindor will figure it out. For the Mets’ sake, hopefully that’s the case.
