Frankie Montas trade rumors: New York Yankees

The Yankees have a five game lead in the NL East with a 28-10 record. Even with their early success the Yankees are always wanting to take another step to improve themselves. Adding Montas will do that for the Yankees, for certain.

While New York is a much different environment from Oakland, the big city and the winning culture might be just the change in scenery Montas needs to improve on the mound.

The Yanks rotation currently includes Gerrit Cole, Luis Severino, Jordan Montgomery, Jameson Taillion and Nestor Cortes. Adding Montas might allow the club to move Severino or Montgomery to a long relief situation later in the season.

As the Yankees get closer to the trade deadline, it will be interesting to see who the club will target to make a postseason run. Don’t be surprised to see them in on Montas.
