The Yankees are off to a strong regular season start, but these three trade targets could help New York achieve postseason glory.

Aaron Boone’s team has begun the regular season by establishing a nice lead in the American League East standings. Fans in the Bronx understand that the real measure of this year’s team won’t be evaluated until October. That’s why Brian Cashman and the front office will still be constantly scouring the trade market for ways to improve the team’s postseason roster.

Recent injuries to Chad Green and Luis Gil make a foray into the market for another bullpen arm the most likely move for the Yankees. Still, it isn’t the sort of move that’s going to drastically move the needle for the club come playoff time. Instead, the Yankees need to look for one more star to add to Boone’s roster.

Such a player won’t be easy to acquire, but the Yankees have the farm system to make almost any sort of covetable move. Fans should keep a close eye on the following three trade targets.

3. Bryan Reynolds

The Pirates aren’t going to be a contender anytime soon, which is why Reynolds should be on the trading block. Pittsburgh’s asking price has been too high for any team to move for him as of yet, but that could change as this year’s trade deadline approaches.

The 27-year-old outfielder is scuffling at the plate this season with an average of just .215, but he’d still be a clear upgrade over Aaron Hicks in center field for the Yankees. Perhaps more importantly, acquiring him would permit Boone to leave Aaron Judge in right field, which would reduce wear and tear on the slugger’s body. Reynolds won’t come cheap, but dealing for him could be a shrewd decision by Cashman ahead of the deadline.
