Chad Kuhl, Colorado Rockies

Kuhl has a record of 3-2 after eight games started and 41.2 innings pitched for the Rockies this season. The right-handed arm relies on a sinker, a slider, a curveball, a changeup, and a four-seam fastball. Over his six-season career, he has induced 43.4% grounders with these pitches.

Kuhl’s most used pitch is a sinker which averages 92.9 mph with an active spin of 99%.

“On May 10, Kuhl had a 1.82 ERA. On May 23, his ERA had soared to 3.67,” according to Murray. “Still, Kuhl, who is signed to a one-year, $3 million contract, figures to be a desirable option for teams seeking cheap, cost-effective starting pitching.”

The Rockies have been a trade partner for the Cardinals in the past. Kuhl is a nice, cost-effective option that Mozeliak will certainly check on closer to the trade deadline.
