The Boston Celtics made it to the 2022 NBA Finals, and they did so by completing their revenge tour.

For the first time in 12 years, the Boston Celtics have returned to the NBA Finals. After losing the opportunity to close out the Miami Heat at home in Game 6, the Celtics held onto to defeat their foes 100-96 on the road in Game 6. Now, they have the face off against the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.

Boston managed to make it to the Finals by completing their revenge tour. The Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat, all of whom eliminated them in their last three playoff runs.

Celtics complete revenge tour to reach NBA Finals

Back in 2019, Boston lost in five games to Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. In 2020, they made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals but fell to Miami in six games. Then, last year, Boston lost in five games to Brooklyn in the first-round.

In this playoff run alone, Boston swept Brooklyn in the opening round. They then faced off against Milwaukee, the defending NBA Champions, and beat them in seven games. Finally, they faced the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, and won in seven games.

Now that the revenge is over with, Boston now focuses on a Warriors team that went through the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks to return to the Finals for the sixth time in eight years. While they look like the favorites, Boston can make this a competitive series, and could very well be the last team standing with the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
