The expectations are sky high for Nick Saban’s Alabama football team this upcoming season.

After getting to the national championship game a season ago, the Alabama football team has to pick up the pieces and carry on after suffering a devastating defeat to Georgia.

Nick Saban has guided his program into the College Football Playoff all but one year in the existence of this postseason format. Alabama has been the preeminent dynasty throughout college football over the last 15 years. While he is clearly on the back-nine as a superstar head coach in his early 70s, Alabama still has plenty of winning to do, not just in 2022, but beyond that.

Here are five bold predictions for what will definitely happen for the Crimson Tide this season.

Alabama football: 5 early bold predictions for the 2022 college football season

5. Nick Saban will lose to at least one protege head coach at some point this fall

Even if the 2022 Crimson Tide have the capabilities of going 15-0 and winning another national title, they are not going undefeated this season. The SEC is as strong at the top as it has ever been. Though Alabama may be the cream of the crop more often than not, the Crimson Tide are no longer the big, bad bully they used to be. Alabama will lose a game this season, but that is about it.

Looking at the season schedule, the one that smells like a trap game is on the road at Ole Miss. This will be against a former Saban protege in Lane Kiffin. The Rebels have historically played the Crimson Tide well at Vaught-Hemingway. Keep in mind this November date comes right after Alabama’s trip to take on Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers in Death Valley. This is a brutal stretch for sure.

If it is not Ole Miss who beats Alabama, it might be Georgia in the 2022 SEC Championship game.
