Browns: 3 possible solutions to Cleveland’s Baker Mayfield problem

2. Wait for offseason to further unfold
Another great option for Cleveland is to wait for the offseason to unfold.
Teams are holding OTA’s, and then they have mandatory minicamp approaching in mid-June. From there, there is a brief break before the start of training camp in late July, early August.
During the time prior to the start of the regular season, there are many things that can happen. There have been instances where teams’ starters, unfortunately, suffer serious injuries. That puts the team in a bind and forces them to make a move for a quarterback.
An example is when Teddy Bridgewater suffered a knee injury in 2016, and the Minnesota Vikings called the Philadelphia Eagles to pull off their trade for Sam Bradford.
Not only that but there could be instances where an NFL team wants to bring in more options at certain positions during training camp.
That could open the door for the Browns to negotiate a trade with a team that is interested in Mayfield.
