Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill is coming into the 2022 season with major expectations for himself. He’s so confident, he made it a guarantee.

This year should be a critical one for Juan Thornhill, the Chiefs safety who has one year on his contract and something major to prove.

Kansas City needs Thornhill to help replace the lost impact of Tyronn Mathieu. Thornhill needs to impress them enough to get a lucrative new deal.

The player came into minicamp talking a big game.

Juan Thornhill guaranteed an All-Pro season in 2022

“I’m planning on playing my best football. I’m all the way back. I’m going to have an All-Pro season,” Thornhill said per Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

He doubled down on that statement on Twitter soon after by posting a gif with the quote, “Remember it. Write it down. Take a picture.”

Thornhill has started 36 games in his first three years in the league. Last year he started 12 of 17 with 64 tackles, three pass defenses, one interception and a forced fumble.

While he’s been solid at times in his career, he hasn’t broken through for Pro Bowl or All-Pro recognition so far. The closest he’s come was in his impressive first season. The two seasons since have been disappointing by comparison. He has his sights set on these lofty goals now with more responsibility on his shoulders.

What’s the difference now? On top of having more experience, Thornhill was able to have a full offseason for the first time since he was a rookie. He’s had to undergo some sort of rehab over the last two offseasons, including recovering from the ACL injury that ended his debut campaign.
