The Avalanche saw an early lead in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals slip away but the radio call of the overtime winner for Colorado is truly incredible.

Early in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, it looked like the Colorado Avalanche might run out to an early 1-0 lead in the series over the Tampa Bay Lightning with ease. They found the back of the net twice early in the first period and, even when the visitors answered, they scored again to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

The second period was a different story, though, as the Lightning composed themselves on both ends of the ice and put two in the back of the net to even things up. After a hard-fought but fruitless third period for both teams, the Avs were hoping that the home crowd could push them to an overtime victory.

Indeed, that was the case. Winger Andre Burakovsky found some space in the sudden-death period and capitalized on the moment to put a goal in the back of the net and give the Avalanche the crucial early series lead.

Avalanche radio call of Andre Burakovsky winner is electric

As incredible as the goal itself was, the Avalanche radio call of the OT winner was even better, capturing everything you want about the excitement and thrills of that moment.

What a moment, what a rush.

If Game 1 of the series was foreshadowing for what’s to come between these two teams, hockey fans are in for a real treat for however long the Stanley Cup Finals last.
