NBA Draft rumors, Marjon Beauchamp

4. Marjon Beauchamp

Beauchamp shares a lot of characteristics with the aforementioned Terry, but he’s got a stronger body and a superior wing span. He might not be quite as quick laterally, but he should be well-equipped to handle some of the strongest wings in the league.

Predictably, a wing with Beauchamp’s athletic profile that has a chance to fall to the bottom of Round 1 has questions about his jump shot. His mechanics look relatively good when shooting the ball from deep, but the numbers don’t lie. Beauchamp wasn’t a quality perimeter shooter in the G-League last year and it’s going to take him time to improve that skill at the next level.

One of the most intriguing aspects to Beauchamp’s game is that he’s already an above-average ball handler. That gives him a chance to blossom into a player who can initiate offense once he grows comfortable with NBA defenses. That skill might not mean a lot to the Warriors right away, but it adds significantly to Beauchamp’s ceiling down the line.

Drafting Beauchamp and letting him work behind the likes of Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins for an extended period of time could be the best possible plan for his development. He’s got a lot of NBA tools to his game but they need to be molded together if he’s going to become a quality starter.
