Travelers Championship picks: Expert picks, best bets for PGA Tour golf this week
Breaking down our PGA Tour expert picks for this week’s Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands with a strong field after the US Open.
Don’t lose that high after we leave the US Open. While it was a fantastic tournament at The Country Club punctuated by a fabulous Matt Fitzpatrick victory, we’re staying in the northeast for another fantastic tournament in the Travelers Championship with a loaded field set to take TPC River Highlands by storm.
One of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour schedule, length off of the tee actually can still help you here, but there is more of a premium on accurate drives and then good approach shots from the 125-175 yard range for the players to succeed. So that plus strong course history is what we’re going to be looking at for this tournament.
Admittedly, we’re coming off a week at Brookline in which many of our picks were close, but just not good enough. That means we’re due for a bounce-back week and one that we need to capitalize on. Let’s get into it with our PGA Tour expert picks for the Travelers Championship.

PGA Tour expert picks for Travelers Championship: Winner, Top 10, One and Done
Pick to Win the Travelers Championship: Patrick Cantlay (+1600)
Normally, I’m not the biggest Patrick Cantlay proponent, especially in majors like last week when I picked him to miss the cut. However, he’s been terrific at the Travelers in recent history with four straight Top 15 finishes. More importantly, he showed a bit of the form that he displayed last year when he went on to win the FedEx Cup on the weekend at the US Open. I like for him to build on that and emerge victorious at a place where he’s had tremendous success previously.
Top 10 pick for Travelers Championship: Brian Harman (+450)
Speaking of sneaky success at the Travelers, while no one is going to match the résumé of Bubba Watson at this place, Harman has thrived at a course where being long off of the tee isn’t a prerequisite for success. In the last four years, Harman has come up with a Top 10 finish in three events. That speaks to his talent and he’s coming off of a decent made cut and fade at the US Open. I love for him to show up and continue his good feels around TPC River Highlands.
One and Done Pick for Travelers Championship: Kevin Streelman
We’re going a bit off the board here for the One and Done, mostly because I don’t want to burn any of the big names I have left on a tournament like the Travelers with the playoffs and The Open Championship still left on the schedule. Streelman has been a good player at this tournament historically, finishing second in 2020 and having two other Top 15 finishes in his last five starts. He missed the cut last year and also hasn’t been in great form, but I’m banking on the course history to carry him this week.

Davis Riley to finish Top 20 (+200)
You’re damn right I’m going back to the well with Davis Riley this week. Yes, he didn’t cash our Top 20 bet last week, but I think that’s getting us better value than we otherwise would’ve. That was still his first finish worse than T13 in the past two months and he didn’t play all that poorly — he just succumbed to US Open conditions he’s not familiar with. I expect a bounce back and for him to get back to cashing tickets for us.
Rory McIlroy to finish Top 10 (+140)
Much like Cantlay, Rory McIlroy has been a good, good player at the Travelers Championship over the years. He’s played three of the last five years and has finished inside the Top 20 in all three trips. Now, McIlroy is in elite form, which is evidenced by a T5 last week despite not striking the ball all that well. He’s been T8 or better in four of his last five starts, including the RBC Canadian Open win. For plus odds at a Top 10, I’m taking that and running once again.
Joel Dahmen to finish Top 20 (+300)
We saw Joel Dahmen in contention at the US Open last week and he looks super confident in his game right now. As one of the more accurate drivers on the PGA Tour, he should be playing a lot out of the fairway this week and his approach play was quite impressive at Brookline. After finishing T20 at this tournament back in 2020, I like for him to keep his form rolling and cash a Top 20 again this week.
Longshot pick to win Travelers Championship: Aaron Rai (+12500)
Aaron Rai has been somewhat inconsistent this year but, when he’s been on, he’s performed incredibly well. He’s an accurate player off the tee and has gone T26 and T13 in his last two starts. These odds are way too high for him right now and, though he may not win, you’ll get good numbers on Rai all week long at a place that should suit his game in good form.
