Top 10 power dunks of the 2021-22 NBA Playoffs
By Luke Anton
2. Andrew Wiggins — May 3, 2022
It’s Game 2 of the second-round series between the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors lead the series 1-0 but trail the Grizz by four in the second quarter at FedExForum in Memphis.
Andrew Wiggins has the ball at the top of the key and sends a pass in to Draymond Green, which queues up some classic, pristine Warriors ball movement.
The ball makes its way back to Wiggins at the top of the key after a kick-out pass from Jordan Poole. Wiggins blows by Tyus Jones (late on a scattered close-out for a second time on this possession) and heads down the lane. JJJ is there, but not after a crossover from Wiggins renders him useless. That leaves Brandon Clarke to try to bail out his teammates. Wiggins has a slightly different idea. It’s that time again.
Taking off from two feet from the dotted line, Wiggins springs right into Clarke while bringing back the ball with two hands. He powers straight through Clarke, sending Clarke to the ground as Wiggins catches the rim to emphasize the thundering slam. And for the cherry on top, Wiggins glares down at Clarke, who is lying there on the ground helpless.
The Warriors bench is up, but nobody is more hyped than Steph, walking up the court fist-pumping and yelling, so proud of his boy.
On the call, Ian Eagle has the anti-announcer jinx occur here, saying: “Wiggins, still looking for his first field goal.. THAT’LL DO IT! Wiggins! On the rack attack!”
Not only did Andrew Wiggins show out on the biggest stage in the NBA Finals for the Warriors, but he had TWO of the top 10 power dunks from the playoffs. And both are in the top five!
