Arch Manning informed the masses he’s going to play at the University of Texas, and predictably, Twitter has gone absolutely insane.

The Texas Longhorns landed an elite talent in quarterback Arch Manning, the nation’s most-coveted high school quarterback.

And, with the news of Manning heading to Austin, Twitter unsurprisingly went insane with the revelation.

Arch Manning spurns SEC powers to play with the Texas Longhorns

Obviously, this is a huge power play for Texas. The Longhorns have struggled in recent years after being one of the nation’s powers for much of the 20th century. However, since winning the 2006 Rose Bowl over the USC Trojans, fortunes have turned for Texas.

Since then, the Longhorns have only two major bowl wins, getting them in 2009 Fiesta Bowl and ’19 Sugar Bowl. Additionally, Texas only has one double-digit win campaign since 2010.

With Manning joining the fray, Texas now has a loaded quarterback room with both he and Quinn Ewers involved, two of the top quarterback recruits in recent memory.

For Manning, he’s also bucking a family trend. His grandfather, Archie Manning, played for the Ole Miss Rebels before being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1971. His sons, Peyton and Eli, also played SEC football with Eli going to Ole Miss as well, while Peyton played at the University of Tennessee. Both were No. 1 overall picks and combined to win four Super Bowls.

Then again, Texas is slated to join the SEC in 2025, and if that timeline gets sped up or Manning hangs around long enough, he might play some SEC ball after all.
