Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar was not pleased with officials during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Colorado Avalanche entered Friday night with the chance to win their third Stanley Cup in franchise history. With a 3-1 Stanley Cup Final lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning, all they had to do was win Game 5 to officially end the series and the season.

During Game 5, let’s just say that star defenseman and Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar was not too pleased with the officiating. That was evident after a breakaway opportunity that was unsuccessful. He looked at the officials nearby and said “you’re a f—ing joke.”

While he was unhappy at that particular moment, things did get batter for Makar.

With the Avalanche trailing 2-1 to start the third period, Makar tied things up just a little over two minutes. Makar unleashed a shot that dribbled between the legs of Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Unfortunately, despite opportunities, the Avalanche could not take the lead. Instead, it was Tampa Bay who took a late 3-2 lead on a goal by Ondrej Palat. That turned out to be the game-winner, with the Lightning forcing a Game 6 in Tampa Bay on Sunday, June 26.
