Bryce Harper had classy reaction to Blake Snell after HBP led to injury

The Bryce Harper injury is the last thing the Phillies, fans or Harper himself want to see, but the superstar had a super classy response to Blake Snell. 

In the latest edition of “the Philadelphia Phillies can’t catch a break”, superstar outfielder and designated hitter Bryce Harper is most likely headed to the IL once again after Saturday night’s contest against the San Diego Padres when he exited after a 97 mph Blake Snell fastball hit him in the hand.

It was clear in the immediate aftermath that Harper was in a ton of pain after the hit-by-pitch and as he walked off the field and it turned out to be the worst-case scenario for the situation.

After the game, the team reported that Harper had suffered a fractured hand on the play and will undergo further tests to evaluate the injury and recovery timetable.

Despite his clear frustration with the injury, though, Harper’s handling of the situation couldn’t have been more classy.

For starters, as Harper was walking off the field with trainers, the clearly upset superstar still took time to hear Snell’s apology and let the Padres pitcher know that it wasn’t done with any intent to injure or even hit him.

Speaking with the media after the game, Harper continued that sentiment as he stated it was not done on purpose and then praised Snell as a “great player and great human being” and even said that he should continue to throw the inside fastball because it’s a good pitch that sets up his slider as well.

Harper is a fiery player that can sometimes rub fans and opposing players the wrong way, but it’s clear in a moment like this that, at his core, he’s an extremely classy individual.

From a baseball perspective, it’s going to be tough for the Phillies as Harper joins another of their big bats, Jean Segura, among the list of players with broken hands. Baseball fans can surely hope for a speedy recovery for both Harper and Segura, though, and before it’s too late for Philadelphia to save their season.
