Breaking down the Travelers Championship payout for the 2022 tournament at TPC River Highlands to see how much prize money players make.

One week after the third major championship of the year at the US Open, the PGA Tour stayed in the northeast, Cromwell, CT to be specific, for the annual trip to play the Travelers Championship. And what we got was some of the best players in the field rising to the occasion while other dark horses started to try and make a name for themselves.

While Rory McIlroy faded after taking the first round lead, the 54-hole leader Xander Schauffele looked to get the monkey off his back after not having won in quite some time while paired with his friend and another Top 10 player in the world, Patrick Cantlay, in the final group.

Behind them entering Sunday, though, was a group of challengers including amateur Michael Thorbjornsen, veteran Kevin Kisner, upstart challenger Sahith Theegala, and several others.

All of them were playing for their share of the Travelers Championship payout with a purse at $8.3 million being split among the 71 players who made the cut. With that, let’s see how the payout breaks down by finishing position.

As it often is, the Travelers has been a phenomenal tournament this year and the players, though conditions have been far from brutal, will have certainly earned their payday with some wind in the final round making scoring a little harder to come by. Regardless, it was fun to see a strong field start to get their feels about them a week after the US Open and with The Open Championship looming in just a few weeks.
