Freddie Freeman ‘healing’ and ‘moving on’ from Braves relationship

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman faced his old team (the Atlanta Braves) this weekend and it was an emotional return. Now, Freeman is trying to move on.

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman had a very emotional weekend in Atlanta as it was the first series back in Atlanta since Freeman and the Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series.

After the tears of the weekend, Freeman dropped his representation on Tuesday.

Kevin Henry of our sister site Call To The Pen was one of a few reporters that caught up with Freeman in Denver before the Dodgers faced the Colorado Rockies.

Freddie Freeman is moving on from the Atlanta Braves and focusing on being a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers

“I think I might have told you guys I might not have been looking for closure over the weekend, but there needs to be closure,” said Freeman to Call To The Pen. “It’s time. I’m a Dodger for the next six years and that’s where my focus lies.

“You were in a relationship for 15 years (including being drafted and in the minor leagues). It ended and you’re going to have feelings. I’ve been going through it,” Freeman said. “There’s a process of grieving and now I’m in the healing process and in the moving on process.”

Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw made some comments to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about the Dodgers, perhaps, being second-fiddle to the Braves in Freeman’s heart but Freeman told Henry and the other reporters that he spoke with Kershaw and everything was good with them.

Freeman didn’t make any additional statements about dropping his representation other than referring to his statement.

While it was a very tough, emotional weekend for Freeman, time is the only thing that heals all wounds. Even if the two clubs face each other in the postseason, Freeman should be a bit more composed but the nostalgia of Atlanta will undoubtedly always have a big place in Freeman’s heart.
