The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest is a July 4 tradition, and Independence Day 2022 will be no different. Here’s everything you need to know.

Joey Chestnut once again goes into the 2022 edition from Coney Island as the favorite. Chestnut is an international eats icon, and largely due to his success at this very event.

Chestnut claims he has a couple years left as he tries to maintain his dominance among the very best at his craft. 76 hot dogs is the current record, which is held by Chestnut. He has won every year since 2007, minus 2015, in which Matt Stonie came out the victor.

Just last year, Chestnut was one off his preferred pace, which he set before the contest. “I’m hoping I can find that perfect rhythm were I can keep pushing and I’m comfortable,” Chestnut said at the time. “Hopefully…77 sounds doable.”

76 isn’t half bad.

How to watch Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on reddit

The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN around noon E.T. live from Coney Island. Should you need other means, Fubo and other streaming services, such as ESPN+, will carry the event live. The sports streams subreddit community may have a link as well, though that’s more of a longshot at this juncture.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest rules

  • Hot dogs and buns can be dipped into a beverage, but for no longer than five seconds
  • If a competitor vomits they are disqualified

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest odds

Chestnut is a prohibitive favorite to win the contest, of course. However, the more intriguing bet may be the over/under on hot dogs he will eat in the allotted time. While he at 76 hot dogs last year, his current over/under is set at 74.5, per WynnBet.
