J.J. McCarthy. 1. player. 811. QB. Michigan Wolverines. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Eventually, it is going to be The J.J. McCarthy Show in Ann Arbor, so get ready!

Missing out on spring practice due to injury was always going to hurt J.J. McCarthy down the line. Yes, it probably will be Cade McNamara starting Week 1 at quarterback for the Wolverines, but McCarthy’s talent is too much to keep him on the bench forever. If Michigan fades at some point or falls out of the College Football Playoff entirely, look for McCarthy to be given the keys to the car.

McCarthy is the future of the Michigan quarterback position. The five-star offers a ton of promise, but eventually, that potential is going to have to turn into results. The best thing Michigan can do is to continue to put him in positions to succeed. He may get a few series here and there while McNamara still has the job, but one he is only holding onto just barely. McCarthy is coming for ya!

Outside of C.J. Stroud at arch-rival Ohio State, McCarthy is arguably the most talented quarterback at any Big Ten school. It serves the Wolverines to allow him the opportunity to compete for playing time this fall. If he can play up to his potential, it is not a matter of if, but a matter of when he will take the starting job away from McNamara. If he cannot do this, then Michigan has a big problem…

The only way Michigan gets back to the playoff and wins games is with McCarthy at quarterback.
