The 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews is ready to crown a new winner as the weather will surely give golfers a proper test of fortitude and mental toughness.

While St. Andrews will give players a run for their money at the 150th Open Championship, they will also have to worry about the unpredictable weather that comes with playing in Scotland.

The weather is usually one of the stars during Open Championship week, as sideways rain, heavy winds, and anything in between typically cause as much carnage as it can this week.

It’s like the golf gods watch players all year long have some weather adversities and then click it up a few notches to test the players in golf’s homeland.

This tournament is where the weather comes into play the most, and that test is just as hard as the course will be.

At the 150th Open Championship, the weather will test the best golfers

Early weather reports suggested high wind gusts upward of 30 miles per hour, but it seems those have calmed down some.

According to Weather.com, all four days of the tournament could see rain. Winds will be tolerable, unlike previous Open Championships, but with this tournament in Scotland, the weather could flip and be terrible in a blink of an eye.

These forecasts are a good starting point but know that carnage could still happen if Mother Nature wants.

Here is a day-by-day look at the weather forecast ahead of the Open.

On Thursday, the high will be 68 with the low of 53 with a 19% chance of rain during the day. Winds will be around 10 to 15 miles per hour, and humidity will be at 59%. There will be some sunshine, but there will be a lot of clouds in the sky too.

The weather could get tricky into the night on Thursday as the rain chances increase to 79% so that Friday could see a damp course.

For Friday, there is a 77% chance of rain throughout the day with wind speeds of 10-to-15 miles per hour. It’ll be partly cloudy throughout the day, and the temperature will drop into the 50s for the night.

Saturday brings warmer temperatures as the high is 70 with cloudy skies. There will still be winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour which seems to be the norm in Scotland, but the chance of rain is only 10%.

Round three could be the best day in terms of weather for the golfers. At least that is the case right now. Temperatures will drop to 58 on Saturday night, and rain will move back into the forecast with a 50% chance.

Sunday will see a high of 75, with a 24% chance of rain. It’ll be a cloudy day, but at least it’ll be warm. The wind could get up to 20 miles per hour for the final day, so the scoring may need to happen on those first three days.

The Open Championship will have lighter weather than fans usually expect for this event, but who knows, maybe Mother Nature will snap her fingers and make these players work for it.

St. Andrews won’t be an easy task for them as the course seems rock hard, but throwing in the weather could also provide humbling golf moments for these players.
