Look: Cameron Smith delayed interview to sign autographs for young fans
Cameron Smith proves he is a man of the people as he delayed an interview to make sure some kids were happy.
What PGA Tour golfers do on the course is important, but Cameron Smith showed after Friday’s round at the Open Championship that what they do off the course is just as important.
Smith leads the field by two strokes after shooting a 64 on Friday, which usually means an interview will happen after his round. He made the media wait so a few kids could get an autograph.
Those moments could become a core memory for those kids, which could turn them onto the game — in fact, growing golf. So the fact that Smith took his time to make sure they all got one shows what kind of guy he is.
Not to mention kids probably think he looks cool with his mullet.

Some golfers don’t always make time for the kids, or they make them wait until all the obligations get finished. Not Smith — he made them a priority.
After his act of kindness, there could be boys all over Scotland doting a mullet, which Smith has become known for, which is incredible.
Todd Lewis shared the photo of Smith signing autographs, letting the world know he is just as great off the course as he is on it.
Smith is one of the younger guys that continues to grow in popularity among golf fans — as he should. He has a chance to win his first major this weekend, and those kids could remember that moment forever and become lifelong fans.
So much negativity is out in social media and the world right now, so seeing a world-class athlete make kids a priority is the content we should all want to see.
