Dodgers fans take Astros hate to the next level at All-Star Futures Game
By Scott Rogust
Houston Astros prospects Yainer Diaz and Hunter Brown were booed by Los Angeles Dodgers fans at the MLB All-Star Futures Game.
It is no secret that the Los Angeles Dodgers fanbase has a profound hatred for the Houston Astros. MLB investigated and declared that the Astros illegally stole signs through electronic means during the 2017 season, the very year where they won the World Series by defeating the Dodgers in seven games. Of course, there would be some bad blood carrying over for years to come.
MLB All-Star week is emanating from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Dodgers fans have not forgotten, as evidenced by them booing Astros prospects Yainer Diaz and Hunter Brown during introductions at the All-Star Reserves Game.

It is important to note that neither prospect was even in the Astros organization in 2017. Brown was selected in the fifth-round of the 2019 MLB Draft, and is now Houston’s top prospect in the farm system. Diaz did not join the Astros until 2021 when he was part of the Myles Straw trade with the Cleveland Guardians.
That was not stopping Dodgers fans for voicing their displeasure towards anyone associated with the Astros.
One interesting thing entering the All-Star Game on July 19 was if Astros second baseman Jose Altuve would still receive a chorus of jeers from those in attendance at Dodger Stadium. Altuve was scheduled to start for the American League team, but the league announced that he would not play after getting hit on his left knee by a pitch in Houston’s July 14 game against the Los Angeles Angels.
Altuve was replaced by Andres Gimenez of the Guardians in the starting line up. With Altuve out, the team added Santiago Espinal of the Toronto Blue Jays to the roster.
On the very first day of MLB All-Star week, the Astros have already received a “warm welcome” by the Dodgers faithful.
