4. Juan Soto trade destination: San Diego Padres

A lineup with Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Juan Soto at the heart of it is enough to make pitchers start to tremble at the knees just thinking about it. But it’s something that could be the reality for the San Diego Padres if they make their move and get the Nationals front office on the phone.

San Diego has seen some solid play throughout the year from Nomar Mazara since he got the call up earlier in the year but they have been disappointed in Trent Grisham in 2022 while also seeing a bit of up-and-down play from Jurickson Profar as well.

Put simply, the Padres could use another big bat in their lineup and more production on a consistent basis from their outfield to supplement the strength of their roster.

The name of the game in the NL West is to keep up with the Los Angeles Dodgers and adding Soto would be a way for San Diego to make that happen. Again, that heart of the lineup, once Tatis takes the field in the 2022 season as he makes his way back from offseason wrist surgery, would be near unmatched in baseball if they could pull of this deal.
