Juan Soto rejects Nationals godfather offer: 5 teams that need to jump at a trade
3. Juan Soto trade destination: San Francisco Giants
Speaking of keeping pace in the NL West, another potential destination that could be in play would be the San Francisco Giants. They’ve fallen a bit behind lately in the division race and even in the wild card race, but the club that won 107 games a year ago still has high hopes for what lies ahead and for good reason.
One of the reasons that San Francisco has struggled of late has been the inconsistency of their run production at the plate. They’ve relied extremely heavily on their pitching to get the job done and, while they’ve often delivered, that’s a slippery slope to live on if you’re not getting quality run production.
Adding Juan Soto to the mix would then make things quite interesting. The Giants could move Mike Yastrzemski to center field to allow Soto to take his natural place in right field. More importantly, it would inject some much-needed youth and consistent power into the lineup as San Francisco has been searching for a traditional 3-hole hitter this year.
The one concern would be adding another lefty to a lineup already bursting at the seams on that side of the plate but the positives of adding Soto would likely outweigh the worry in that regard.
