2. Ivan Perisic is better than Ryan Sessegnon right now

Sessegnon successfully won his battle against Sergio Reguilon to stake his claim as one of Conte’s favorite options at left wing-back. Unfortunately for the young Englishman, the arrival of Ivan Perisic as a free transfer this summer might negatively impact his standing in Conte’s eyes.

Tottenham will absolutely need two high-quality left wing backs to make it through the crowded fixture list heading their way. The question is which option Conte will go with during the team’s most important matches.

Perisic only recovered from injury in time to log minutes against Rangers but he made it obvious why Conte was so anxious to bring him to his new side. He’s an extremely active player who regularly finds a way to impact his team on both ends of the pitch.

In the end, Perisic’s arrival should turn into a massive benefit for Sessegnon. Oftentimes, it’s easy for another player to help a teammate understand his manager’s instructions than solely hearing the barking from a coaching staff. Perisic might frustrate Sessegnon in the short-term though. He could very well be the player who gets the lion’s share of Champion’s League football this season.
