LIV Golf is reportedly set to announce their next big signing at Bedminster this week and it will be two-time major champion Bubba Watson.

LIV Golf is set to host its third event at Trump Bedminster in New Jersey this week with three new additions to the breakaway tour. Jason Kokrak, Charles Howell III and Henrik Stenson all defecting from the PGA Tour to join the Saudi-backed golf league.

But apparently, Greg Norman and the rest of the league have another big announcement and newcomer that they are set to announce at the Bedminster event this week.

According to Handicap 54 on Twitter (a source who has been all over and stunningly accurate with LIV Golf rumors throughout all of the players jumping to the new tour), two-time Masters winner Bubba Watson will be announced as the newest player joining LIV.

LIV Golf rumors: Bubba Watson next to join Saudi-backed league

He went on to report that Watson will not play for LIV in 2022 but will join in 2023 and be a team captain for the breakaway league.

Watson had long been rumored to be one of the players who would leave the PGA Tour early in the process for LIV Golf but, as weeks passed, there were questions about whether or not that was actually going to happen or not. Based on these reports, though, it seems that it indeed will.

At 43 years old and turning 44 in November, Watson very much fits the bill of many other PGA Tour veterans who have gone to this new league as he’s largely past his prime but still commands attention as a big name in the golfing world.

All in all, though, Norman and the LIV group have to be ecstatic about the latest addition. Getting a player such as Watson with a major-winning pedigree adds more credibility to the league as they move forward in their application for OWGR points and search for firmer footing in the golfing world.
