3. MLB rumors: A Toronto Blue Jays trade package for Tarik Skubal

What about sending Tarik Skubal to the Toronto Blue Jays? There have been plenty of MLB rumors about their desire to add starting pitching. Skubal would make a lot of sense for them. Last year’s addition of Jose Berrios hasn’t worked out so well this year. In Skubal’s case, there’s no early extension they’d feel the need to offer him.

So, what kind of trade could the Blue Jays make with the Tigers?

The Tigers would land Jordan Groshans, a Triple-A infielder and the 83rd-ranked prospect in all of baseball. He’d be the best one offered by any of these three teams. He was thought to have a lot more power than he has shown as a professional player. Perhaps Detroit can eventually unlock it.

The Tigers also get two more arms. CJ Van Eyk (8) and Hayden Juenger (26). Van Eyk is out for the year with Tommy John Surgery while Juenger is already in Triple-A and a decent enough prospect to help round out this deal.

Like the Cardinals trade outlined previously, we could always see someone like Fulmer added to the deal with the Blue Jays adding in another prospect. Because Van Eyk is coming off of major surgery, however, we could already see Toronto needing to add in a fourth piece with a little less risk.
