Aaron Rodgers adamantly shuts down a Tom Brady-like NFL future
The quarterback of the Green Bay Packers had a thought about how much longer he would be playing football. Aaron Rodgers answer was short and sweet.
No player in NFL history has thrown for more yards than current Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Tom Brady (84,520). In terms of active performers, second on the list is new Indianapolis Colts’ signal-caller Matt Ryan (59,735). He’s followed by prolific passer Aaron Rodgers (55,360) of the Green Bay Packers.
When it comes to career touchdown passes, Brady is the league’ all-time leader with a mind-boggling 624 scoring tosses. In 2021, he led the entire NFL with 43 touchdown tosses. Meanwhile, Rodgers is fifth on the list – behind Drew Brees (571) and Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508) – with 449 TD strikes.
It’s safe to say that Aaron Rodgers would have to put up some incredible numbers to catch the seven-time Super Bowl champion on those lists. And that’s if Brady opted to step away from the game.
Well, it’s now certain that neither is going to happen. Brady celebrated his 45th birthday on Wednesday, August 3. He’s preparing for his 23rd NFL season. So when someone asked Aaron Rodgers whether he had any plans to play until he was 45 years old, the response was short and sweet.
“No,” said a smiling Rodgers (via Zach Kruse of PackersWire.com). “But happy birthday, Tom!”
Rodgers turns 39 years old on December 2. The 10-time Pro Bowler earned his third and fourth NFL MVP award the past two years. But he apparently doesn’t have any intention of playing until December of 2028, when he hits the BIG 45.

The 17-year quarterback has thrown 449 touchdown passes compared to a mere 93 interceptions in 213 regular-season games dating back to 2005. Perhaps a more interesting question would be this. Just when will Aaron Rodgers finally throw his 100th regular-season interception?
