3 early Packers training camp standouts who fans can’t ignore
By Scott Rogust
It may be early in Green Bay Packers training camp, but these three players have been standing out.
The entire NFL is in the midst of training camp, as all 32 teams prepare for the upcoming season. For the Green Bay Packers, they look to solidify their status as being one of the top teams in the NFC, all the while dealing with an exodus of talent.
Last year did not end the way Green Bay had envisioned. They had the top record in the league and clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs. Seemingly, they looked like the favorites to make it to Super Bowl 56. Instead, they were limited to 10 points by the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round and were eliminated.
While it is early in training camp fans are going to hear buzz about players who are standing out on their respective teams. Here are three players who have stood out for the Packers.

3. DL T.J. Slaton
One name that has received some buzz this early in camp is second-year defensive lineman T.J. Slaton.
The Packers used their fifth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on the defensive lineman out of Florida. He played in all 17 regular-season games last year, where he logged 23 combined tackles and one sack.
In training camp, Slaton is a name that has popped up on Twitter from those covering practices. Paul Bretl of Dairyland Express noted that Slaton was taking some first-team reps during Green Bay’s Family Night practice.
Slaton is tentatively listed as the backup nose tackle on the team, but he could get some meaningful snaps in the regular season if he continues to keep up throughout training camp. Overall, Green Bay’s defensive line is looking good heading into the upcoming season.
