Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith has requested a trade, and these three teams should be picking up their phones immediately and make an offer.

On Tuesday, Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith released a lengthy statement, via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, about requesting a trade.

It seems as if both sides cannot come to an agreement, and it’s possible that the Bears are going to move on. But then comes the final question, which may take more than 30 seconds to answer. Who will trade for Roquan Smith, and how much are they willing to give up?

A few days ago, it seemed unlikely that Chicago would do this after Smith posed in the new orange helmet the team would be wearing this season, but it looks like the financial aspect is not working out.

So, what can you get realistically in a deal for Smith that would leave the Bears satisfied, specifically Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus? The two men have made it clear that they have a vision for how they want to run their team, and with too many holes on their roster, securing a singular star player with a heavy cap hit may not be in their best interest.

Poles and Eberflus want to build through the draft, and their best bet is to have as many picks as possible. They already traded for N’Keal Harry by giving up a 2024 seventh-round pick, but Harry is injured, and it’s likely Poles will want that pick back somehow. The bottom line is that this team needs picks.

That said, the Bears need to monitor their phones closely. Sure, they aren’t going to fetch as much draft capital as Bears fans and Twitter may hope for, but given Smith’s pedigree, there will be some form of compensation. That said, here are three teams that might want to place a call to Halas Hall right now.
