4) Carlos Correa rumors: The St. Louis Cardinals are always a threat in free agency

The St. Louis Cardinals have managed to get through this season at shortstop despite Paul DeJong’s failures. Tommy Edman has moved to the position and filled in nicely. This still shouldn’t eliminate them from maybe going after Correa when he is available in the winter.

The Cardinals do have prospect Masyn Winn they can wait on. But considering they were in on trading for Juan Soto and have already pulled off blockbuster deals for Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt in the recent past, we can always suspect they will trade away pieces for another big name player.

St. Louis runs things smoothly and consistently on the field and off of it. Correa would be a good match for them.

5) Carlos Correa rumors: The Baltimore Orioles are the dark horse landing spot

Imagine that. There already were Carlos Correa rumors about him potentially signing with the Baltimore Orioles. Now with the team playing much better than expected in 2022, it seems far more likely for them to make a major splash like this.

Correa is young enough to fit right in with the plan in Baltimore. What he’d bring is the playoff pedigree many of their younger players don’t have. Add him to the lineup and a few starting pitchers and the Orioles are in much better shape.

Stealing Correa from the Twins would also be a good look for Baltimore after they already traded Jorge Lopez to Minnesota. To compete in the American League East, they’ll need to make a big move like this.
