By Scott Rogust
Surprise, surprise. St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols has broken a record during his red-hot streak of games in the month of August.
There has been no player hotter in the month of August than St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols. In the past week, he has been hitting home run after home run, drawing ever so closer to reaching the 700 mark of his career. In the process, he has made history in a variety of ways. To the shock of no one, he has broken a record during this recent stretch of games.
Pujols is now the oldest player to ever hit seven home runs in a 10-game span at 42 years and 218 days. The record was previously held by Ted Williams, who did that back in 1960 at 41 years old. This comes courtesy of ESPN Stats and Info.

Pujols managed to break Williams’ record on Monday, Aug. 22, after he hit his 693rd career home run in St. Louis’ game against the rival Chicago Cubs. Pujols also managed to tie a record held by Barry bonds, as he hit a home run off the 449th different pitcher he’s faced.
This past Saturday, Aug. 20, while facing the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pujols hit home runs No. 691 and 692. After the 691st homer, he officially passed Stan Musial for the second-most total bases in MLB history.
In the month of August (prior to the Aug. 23 game against the Cubs), Pujols recorded a .472 batting average, a 1.608 OPS, seven home runs, 14 RBI, and 17 hits through 14 games.
When it comes to Cardinals games, they are must-watch because of Pujols. Not only is he getting closer to 700 career home runs, but he is making additional history in the process
