Saints troll the hell out of Falcons with 28-3 at practice

The New Orleans Saints trolled the Atlanta Falcons at practice with their scoreboard 

The New Orleans Saints are a feisty, competitive bunch.

CJ Gardner-Johnson has gotten players to punch him in the helmet and gotten his own players to fight him for names he’s called them during practice. Rookie Trevor Penning was kicked out of practice for fighting too many of his own teammates.

With the season yet to start, there’s not a ton of bulletin board material for the team to charge themselves up with, but they’re doing what they can to create some artificial motivation for themselves at practice.

Saints troll the Falcons with 28-3 at practice

According to the host of Locked on Saints, Ross Jackson, the Saints have had 28-3 up on their practice scoreboard for most of Wednesday’s practice.

Coincidence? Doubtful. For those who don’t remember, the Atlanta Falcons lost Super Bowl LI in 2017 against the New England Patriots despite boasting a 28-3 lead. The score has entered the NFL meme lore and is brought up incessantly. Everyone knows that number combination.

And who do the Saints play in Week 1 of the regular season? You guessed it: The Falcons.

The Saints take the petty to the max with 28-3 whenever they can, even posting it on construction signage in the arena:

While some may take it as a little odd to troll a team for a game you weren’t even involved in (the Saints missed the postseason entirely that year), those fans simply don’t understand the deep hatred the NFC South rivals have for each other. The Falcons expect this from the Saints, and would just as soon do something similar of their own to motivate their squad heading into the matchup.

New Orleans will be on the road for the Week 1 matchup, which obviously isn’t a very big deal in Atlanta, but any extra boost helps.
